I turned my attention to the 2025 NFL Draft after the Senior Bowl in February. Since then, I’ve given summer grades to more than 150 players and produced more than 60 full, multi-page scouting reports that are gradually being released through this newsletter. Today, I’ll begin sharing some of my broader thoughts on the class as a whole with you. The 2025 NFL Draft needs a few breakout stars. From my initial passes, this class looks significantly less talented at the top than the 2024 group. Many of the top talents are defensive players as opposed to the record run on offensive prospects we saw a month ago. The running back and tight end classes are well-stocked. Cornerback, edge, and defensive tackle don’t have fantastic depth, but all three positions have really impressive high-end talent. Linebacker looks like a mostly barren desert again. The wide receiver class has more room for variance than recent drafts (excluding 2023). Barring injuries, we could be looking at a deep and very talented running back class.
