This offseason has been one to mostly forget for the Dallas Cowboys, at least thus far, but they have a chance to use the 2022 NFL Draft as a tool to turn the screws in the right direction. Off-the-field issues with the Jones family aside, the myriad of controversial on-the-field decisions have them pressed firmly against a wall now that the most notable free agents are off the market, and that includes Randy Gregory -- the Cowboys losing him to the Denver Broncos in jaw-dropping fashion. That was not long after deciding to trade away four-time Pro Bowl receiver Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a fifth-round pick and shortly before outright releasing starting offensive lineman La'el Collins. And, if you can believe it, things were nearly made that much more dire by way of a contract miff/offer to All-Pro pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence that was deemed 'disrespectful' and nearly led to a divorce. But for so much of the bad that's occurred in Dallas since its disappointing playoff exit, there's been some good to latch on to -- e.g., the re-signing of Malik Hooker, Jayron Kearse, Michael Gallup and Bryan Anger -- but with only two outside acquisitions to the roster, the Cowboys are going to have to be masterful in how they execute their draft plan in 2022.
