With just over a month out from the 2021 NFL Draft, a few teams got ahead of the curve to make some moves to shake up the draft order. One of those teams was the Philadelphia Eagles, who traded back from the sixth overall pick to the 12th pick with the Miami Dolphins. The Eagles acquired a first-round pick in 2022 with the move back and could end up with three first-rounders in 2022, depending on how Carson Wentz does in Indianapolis. This move locks the Eagles into Jalen Hurts as the starter for the 2021 season. It was reported that Philadelphia wanted BYU quarterback Zach Wilson, who the New York Jets are likely to select second overall. With the 49ers moving up to three, it’s possible the Eagles wouldn’t have been able to select any of the top four signal-callers in the class.
