It’s time to put this class to bed, and here are MY rankings. The race for No. 1 went down to the end and it was toughest for me to get comfortable with my Top 6, in the end. If I’m going to be honest, this was nothing like last year. Last year, I felt so comfortable with every projection I made. This year, I do not. All I can tell you is that when I graded offensive linemen, Ickey Ekwonu stood out because I felt that no matter what, I had a tone-setting, game changing player at any position. Charles Cross is the best pass protecting left tackle there is in my mind, and if not for the feeling of a fall back scenario with Ekwonu, Cross would have been my 3rd overall prospect and OT1. How do you gauge on-field violence and athletic displays and project them? That was a big question with Travon Walker for me. I understand why he’s a bit polarizing. My only issue is when people insult others for their opinion after doing heavy film study on the player. I really like what Walker offers as an athlete with incredible strength and versatility, and at the same time, understand those that question his pass rushing acumen. That said, cutting him down to formulas is not something I am comfortable with.
